Yesterday and today I was at the firehouse, so I’m unable to make progress on the updates to the workshop. Dad was in the shop yesterday working on the new lighting that we will be installing. I suspect it will make a HUGE difference on visibility. We will be increasing the number of lights in the shop overall, and switching from incandescent bulbs to florescent bulbs. Eventually I hope to switch all of the lights over to LED, for energy savings.
Building and expanding the website has turned out to be a little tougher than anticipated. Today I learned some good lessons, so I am going to call it a win. In an earlier post, I indicated that I am trying to turn multiple ideas into profitable businesses. As it turns out creating two pages, with different topics, within the same web domain can create a bit of a problem with your search engine optimization (SEO.) Taking this approach can also keep you from monetizing with the help of some advertising services. Not a huge deal, but still a stumbling block. I’ll try the free route f0r the second site, and see where that takes me.
The site is live and our URL, CuttingEdgeCarving.com, has been redirected from our Facebook page to a WordPress created site. This is “Day Two, Take Two” since this is my second attempt at bringing Cutting Edge Carving to the world. This time should be different, as I have a different approach in mind.
Like all good things, it will take a little bit of time. No worries, I will not make you wait long.
The shop is currently undergoing some changes, but soon I will get some pictures posted. From there, I am going to reach out to some local craftsman who have expressed an interest in working together. I hope to get them into the shop so that we can work out designs together.
As you can see the website is also undergoing some changes, being that I am new to WordPress. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but I will get through it. I’ll get pictures, blog posts, and other content posted as it is created. For now feel free to take a look at our gallery on the bottom of our “About Us” page.
‘Day one, blog one,’ call it what you will, but this is the first (hopefully of many.) Fair warning, this might seem disjointed, confusing, but it will get better. I have a few ideas that I think could be marketable. Unfortunately, ideas are not profitable, businesses are.
This is day one, blog one of my drive to take some of these my knowledge in various areas and turn them into real live operating businesses. Some of my ideas may fall flat, others may never make it off of the drawing board, and others may only create enough of a stir to cover the losses created by the other ideas (that fell flat or never made it off of the drawing board,) but this is the start of my honest attempt.
I intend to use this blog my means of putting it all out there and asking my friends and family to help. Nope, I don’t want your money. I want your time, not a lot of it, but some. I am asking you to read this blog every once in a while, and ask me how it is going. Bear with me when I ramble about a bunch of stuff that doesn’t make a lot of sense to you, and ask questions when the urge to do so strikes you.
The only way for me to take these ideas I have and turn them into a profitable business to to make it happen, just put pen to paper and do what needs to be done. By asking me about my goals you will help motivate me to keep going, I perform better for an audience. Let me know you’re watching, that’s it. Bear with me, and ask, please!
